Project window: March 2 – March 20, 2026 · Total: 100 points

About this project

Students choose a landmark from our neighborhood, such as the water tower, the corner bakery, or the footbridge over Mill Creek. They design, carve, and print it as a two-color linocut. Each student turns in three final prints from an edition, the sketch and transfer drawing, and a half-page reflection.

The prompt

Create a Doc grading rubric for a three-week linocut print project called "Neighborhood Landmarks" in Visual Art for Grade 7. Use a table with 5 criteria (composition and design, carving technique, printing quality, concept and theme, reflection and studio habits) as rows and four levels (exemplary, proficient, developing, beginning) as columns, each cell with a clear description, plus points per level and a short student-friendly checklist.

Make it yours

  • Change the details in the prompt to fit teachers.
  • For example, change it so that it is for a Grade 10 Spanish oral presentation about a family recipe and it uses 4 criteria: pronunciation, vocabulary, fluency, and visual aids.
  • Ask for edits in plain words: tone, colors, length, layout or data.
  • Share the result by link or export it when you are done.
